
In the tobacco cargo at the customshouse in the Odessa, a quarantine weed was found. The corresponding finding was carried out after the phytosanitary control, the website of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumers Protection reports.
According to the information, ivy-leaved morning glory (Ipomea hederaseae L.), which is absent in Ukraine, was brought from Argentina.
It is reported that the contaminated cargo is detained and phytosanitary measures are planned.
In order to prevent such incidents, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumers Protection plans to send a notification to the exporting country Argentina about the incompatibility of the cargo with Ukraine’s phytosanitary requirements.
