In the Kirovohrad Raion, plant breeders presented more than 450 breeds and hybrids of crops

"Day of the Field" was held on June 22 in the village Sozonovka, on the territory of the Kirovohrad state agricultural experiment station of the National Academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine. The breeds of homeland and foreign breeds were demonstrated on the field. The main attention was paid to breeds of hard and soft wheat, oats, barley. Also, everyone had the opportunity to see a selection combine SAMPO-2010 in work, which is involved in the harvesting of early grains .

Director of the regional state agricultural experiment station Ihor Semeniaka said that more than 450 breeds and hybrids of agricultural crops have been sown on the field.

"We are engaged in selection and seed breeding of all agricultural crops that there are in the region. Today's "Day of the Field" is dedicated to situation with the yield of cereal grains. We want to show the best breeds of the NAAN system and compare our breeds with foreign ones, because it is widely thought that foreign breeds are better. We want to prove and show that we also have much to offer our commodity producers", said Ihor Semeniaka.

The director also mentioned that because of the prolonged for the month winter and the sharply coming summer, this year cereal grains will yield less harvest. But breeders assure that there are breeds that can give a considerable harvest also in a year with unfavorable weather conditions.

"Bread is already ripe, and some agrarian enterprises started to reap harvests two days ago. Theoretically, the biological yield can reach up to 120-150 q/ha of winter wheat and up to 90-120 q/ha of winter barley. But, unfortunately, realization of such potential is impossible because of difficult weather conditions in this year. Therefore, we observe other indicators, for example, from 40 to 60 q/ha", said Ihor Semeniaka.

Agricultural producers, distributors, agriculturists and representatives of the farms of the region were invited to the event. The guests were shown about hundreds of breeds of winter and spring grain crops.

"On our demonstration trail, we set out not only breeds, but also examined growth technology to offer the producers complex for growing the best harvest. The potential of winter grain crops is now at the level 7-7.5 t/ha on this field, spring crops - 4-4.5 t/ha. The whole complex of agrotechnical measures was carried out on our demonstration trail, especially: mineral nutrition, protection from diseases and pests, fertilization of microelements. We select breeds for different cultivation technologies and different forecrops to offer only the best options for harvesting", shared the vice manager of the scientific work of the experimental station Vitalii Ishchenko.

As a part of the „Day of the Field”, there was also an opportunity to see sowing and tillage machinery of domestic production in work. PJSC "Elvorti" company has demonstrated a grain seeder ASTRA 3 and disc harrow Pallada 3200.

At the end of the full day, for the participants of the event was gave an excursion to the production departments of PJSC "Elvorti ". Special attention should be paid to the fact that the company replaced 80% of equipment.
